STAR Assessments

All Preclarus Mastery Academy scholars are tested monthly in Reading and Mathematics through the STAR Assessment program.  STAR is a computer-adaptive online assessment tool used for screening, progress monitoring, and benchmarking that provides teachers with immediate, accurate data on students’ individual performance levels.  This data allows teachers to plan and implement strategic differentiated instruction based on the individual needs of each student, as well as assist students in setting individual goals for improvement.

NWEA Assessments

NWEA is a computer-adaptive assessment that measures performance in Reading, Mathematics, and Science.  Results help us make informed decisions that promote academic growth.  NWEA tests are given three times a year to measure student progress over time.  The fall results help determine strengths and weaknesses and curricular areas in need of focus.  The winter testing provides a “checkpoint ” to make sure that students are on target and lets us know if we need to make mid-term adjustments.  Spring testing provides a measure of student progress over the course of the year.
