Spring 2015 Standardized Testing Results

Each year, students in grades 3 through 8 across the country participate in standardized testing beginning in April.  In Missouri, this was known previously as MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) Testing.  In the 2014-2015 school year, students participated in Smarter Balanced Testing, a computer-based standardized test that replaced MAP. Smarter Balanced is more aligned with Common Core State Standards, a learning blueprint for public schools that has been adopted by more than 40 states, including Missouri.

The new assessment gauges student performance on four types of questions: selected response, constructed response, technology-enhanced items/tasks and performance tasks. Selected response questions are more or less multiple choice; students are directed to choose one answer from a group of three to five options. In constructed response prompts, students develop answers without suggested choices.
